He opted to run for the 2010 Presidential seat, but after he was marred by reasons unknown (yet), he backed out.
He chose to step in as Noynoy Aquino’s VP mate instead. He said he believes in what his co-senator can do as the Philippine leader. But, why quit, even though he is one main force to reckon with in the Presidential seat?
To take note, he decided to back out even when Noy hadn’t yet summed up his thoughts of running. This left Mar’s believers in total disappointment, since their idol’s decision was made due to premature consequences. It is illogical, which put his supporters perplexed. He could have fought his ‘better’ way against his co-Liberal Party member’s supporters.
Here are some reasons to why Mar quit on his goal:
1.) The massive Yellow fandom would outnumber his personal believers. In general, Filipinos are trend-followers. In our country, you can’t beat colonial mentality with pure intentions alone.
2.) His LP wanted a win-win situation. They saw Mar as the top contender on 2016 presidentiables. Noynoy is the winner for 2010. The LP did not put in consideration the seeds sowed by Mar.
3.) He’s troubled. He saw he can’t beat the Aquino manipulators.
On the day he declared his back-out decision, his followers cried in choir. It is actually a a cry of eulogy, since Mar left his supporters on a dead-end. His insensitivity to his followers would probably not make him the VP, because the trauma he caused to his followers made them realize he is not even fit to make bigger, more sensitive issues.
“Wag kayong mag-alala, lalaban tayo!” He said on his recent ads.
But, through the deep thoughts of his once solid believers, Mar’s message said, “Wag kayong mag-alala, kaya na kayo ni Noynoy!’
